To start my collection of work I have used Photoshop to create a wide collection of repeated designs. These Photoshop files with either be taken into Jacquard Designer where i will transform them into beautiful jacquard samples used for cushion covers or as an upholstery fabric, or I will be taking them into the print studio to experiment with pigments and dyes with fabric for cushion covers or onto paper for the use of a decorative feature wallpaper. I am enjoying making these print designs as it gives me a clear indication of scale and various repeats i can use with a single motif. I can also combine these prints to create a completely new design which has proved successful in my work so far. A lot of my jacquard's i have produced as of now have originated from the repeated designs and I haven't yet run out of motifs etc from my original sketchbook to create them. Overall I have created around 60 designs (including development designs) some which are simpler than others and some more detailed to reflect the art of the mosque. In the next couple of weeks I will be looking at using the sublimation printer to print onto various fabric samples as progression from my digital files.

Over the Summer i have created a sketchbook to refer to for my designs for the duration of the year, this has included, paintings, drawings, collages with both fabric and paper. For my inspiration this year ( St Petersburg Mosque- Russia) i have created a colour scheme for interiors (my passion) by using Blues, teals with accents of white and gold to create those detailed features on my designs to bring an element of vibrance. I really enjoyed creating my sketchbook to establish a unique set of designs to use as a resource to look back on and take inspiration from. For my designs i wanted to take a very textural look into my weaving and printing to keep that authenticity of paint and disruption ( like those in the mosques) with elements of gold leaf and paint pens as my way of capturing the extravagant and detailed art in mosques around the world.
